Obituary for Geraldine "Gerry" VanSchenkBrill

Geraldine "Gerry" VanSchenkBrill (nee Kizitaff), age 81, of Mantua Township passed away peacefully at her home due to natural causes surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 28th, 2014. She was born on October 9, 1932 in Bandung Indonesia (formerly the Dutch East Indies) where she survived Japanese concentration camps during World War II. Gerry and her husband founded Van Brill Pools in Richwood. She was an excellent hostess, cook and seamstress for her family and neighbors. Gerry also had been knitting scarves for the Christian Appalachian Project for the past two years. She loved spending time in her garden giving and receiving flowers. Gerry loved her family and adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her husband, John, her children, Ralph & his wife Barbara, Robert & his wife Diane, Hans & his wife Linda, Henske Savaiano & her husband Armand, and Michael & his wife Suzanne, 15 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Gerry was predeceased by her brothers Ralph & Rudolph, and her sister Ilse.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, September 2nd and 11 AM to 12 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd, at Smith Funeral Home 47 Main Street Mantua where a time of sharing will be held at 12 PM. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
