Obituary for Henry Tapken Jr.

Henry  Tapken Jr.
Henry "Hank" Tapken Jr. age 82, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015, surrounded by those he loved and loved him. Born and raised in Egg Harbor, Hank served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a proud veteran. Formerly of Sewell & Wenonah, he worked for Argo in Thorofare. A life member of VFW Post 7679, he was known as the "Tool Man" at the Clayton Flea Market in the 80s and 90s and more recently know as the "Karaoke King" at the Veterans Memorial Home and other events he attended. His love for his family was deep and neither a friend or stranger could escape hearing about them when Hank was around.

Husband of the late Ruth "Diane" (nee Schofield) for 51 years, he is survived by his children, Kim Cardone of Mantua, Karen (Daniel) Clement of Mullica Hill, Henry Tapken III of Pitman, and Michael Tapken of Sewell, grandchildren, Heidi (Mark) Klincewicz, Melissa Clement, Zachary Clement (Alex Wigslesworth), Leighann Clement (Joshua Biggs), Cory (Jessica) Clement, Michael & Dalton Cardone, and their father Lenny, Henry IV & Daniel Tapken and their mother Joan, and a great granddaughter, Kayla Klincewicz. Hank is also survived by his daughter Kathy (Chuck) McGowan, his grandson Ryan(Catherine) and his great granddaughter Molly, sisters, Nancy (Donald) Beam, & Hilda Foxwell. Hank was predeceased by his sister Inga Cummings.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all at the Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. Their dedication and efforts everyday over the last 5 years brought him great joy and happiness and were a heartwarming blessing to the entire family. We thank God for the gift of his life and the blessing of the time we spent with him.

Family and Friends may visit from 5 to 7:30 PM Sunday, July 26th, at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ. where a funeral service will be held at 7:30 PM. Burial will take place at the Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Contributions can be made to Celebrating Our Veterans, 1011 Buck Street, Millville, NJ 08332.
