Obituary for Emily Rachel Knisell (Burke)

Emily Rachel  Knisell (Burke)
Emily Rachel Burke Knisell, 90, of Wenonah, passed away on June 5, 2017. Known to everyone as Rachel, she was born at home in Wildwood, NJ and lived in Wildwood Crest until she was married to Ralph in 1955, moved to Wenonah in the same year, and then moved into Pitman Manor in 2009. She was graduated from Wildwood High School and was employed by Bell Telephone. Rachel had a passion for genealogy and spent much of her free time devoted to tracing her family roots. She was an active member of the Wenonah and Cape May County Historical Societies and Cape May Patriots Chapter - DAR. She loved gardening, taking care of Ralph and making sure Wenonah’s train station garden was properly maintained. Rachel was a proud American who taught her children respect for their country and flag. Ralph and Rachel were longtime members of the Wenonah United Methodist Church. Rachel was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Ralph M. Knisell. She is survived by their eldest son, Harry W., his wife Deborah, grandchildren (Brandy Carnes and husband David) & (Sheena Cody and husband Jason) and four great grandchildren (Macy, Eric, Noah, Emma). She is survived also by their youngest son Richard L., his wife Patty, their two children (Kelsey Mango and husband Joseph) & (Lauran Golinsky and husband Kevin) and two great grandchildren (Anthony and Sophia). She is also predeceased by her parents, Horace and Emily Burke and her brother John Burke. She is also survived by her brother Russell Burke. Visitation will be Monday, June 12th between 9:30 - 11:00 am at the Wenonah United Methodist Church, 105 E. Willow Street, Wenonah, NJ 08090 with services following at 11 am. Interment will take place at the Wenonah Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wenonah United Methodist Church at the address above.
