Florence “Dolly” Edna Maglio (nee Pilla) age 89, was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 6, 1928. She entered Heaven’s gates on January 8, 2017. A consummate mother and homemaker, Dolly was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she collected a large library of cookbooks from around the world. She also loved to watch food and cooking channels. She was an avid women’s bowler and member of the Women’s Bowling Association for over four decades. She enjoyed competing, attending and watching bowling and she competed in tournaments in many states. She was also a lifelong baseball fan and watched countless Phillies games. The most special game was probably her first date with Louis “Turk” Maglio, the love of her life. Dolly had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Annunciation Church, St Margaret’s and St Clare’s parishes. Over her life, she was involved with the church and assisted with numerous events, and volunteered as a teacher’s aide at St Clare’s Elementary School in Palm Beach Gardens Florida. Dolly was predeceased by her loving husband of twenty-nine years, Louis Anthony Maglio. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, Sonny and Edward, and her five sisters, Rita (Pilla) Amendola, Tootsie (Pilla) Sabbatino, Mary Anne (Pilla) Paolone, Loretta (Pilla) Giletto, and Lucille (Pilla) Frobas. Dolly is survived by her sisters, Veronica (Pilla) Hill, Lorraine Pilla (Paolone), Carol (Pilla) Lipcsik, and Joan Pilla. She is also survived by her sons Louis Anthony Maglio Jr, Stephen John Maglio. She is also survived by her two granddaughters, Stephanie Jensen and Gina Marie Biggs. She had two great-grandchildren, Lucinda Star Biggs and Kai Ewan Biggs. The family gives those who visited Dolly at Buckingham over the last six years and especially everyone who helped care for her their greatest gratitude. The family will receive friends at the viewing from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2017 and 8:15 TO 9:15 am Saturday, January 21st at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main St, Mantua, NJ 08051. Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held 10 am Saturday at Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret’s Church 845 Third St, Woodbury Heights, NJ 08097.
