Obituary for Barbara A. Astorga (Turner)

Barbara A. Astorga (Turner) age 80, of Wenonah re-united with God Friday, May 5, 2017 surrounded by family. Loving wife of Ted Astorga, Barbara is also survived by her children Susan (Bill) Ahlstrom, Jacqueline (Larry) Wozniak, Ted (Cindy) Astorga, 4 grandchildren Heather Astorga, Adam Wozniak, Christine Ahlstrom, and Alexandra (Morgan) Villegas, great-grandson Grayson Villegas, sister Janet Chupein, and aunt Joan Mitchell and pre-deceased by sister Carol Stango. Stepping into the working world by choice, Barbara was a steadfast career woman before it was fashionable. After a long, successful career, she retired from Royal Bank of Pennsylvania where she was corporate Vice President of Human Resources. Juggling career and family life, she remained dedicated to her community and was for many years a Girl Scout leader in the 70s, and an active member and past president of the Wenonah Woman's Club. Barbara loved family, vacations and travel. The tradition of annual family vacations with children and grandchildren began at the Jersey Shore but grew to include memorable trips to the Poconos, San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, The Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, San Diego, Newport Beach and Los Angeles. She and Ted enjoyed traveling on cruises with friends, driving trips to Florida, and visiting Canadian and European cities. Barbara was an active participant in her grandchildren's lives, attending sporting events, plays, musicals, graduations and live performances no matter the distance. She saw grandson Adam achieve his childhood dream of working at Blizzard Entertainment. Under her own beautiful, backyard trellis, she saw her youngest granddaughter married and was proud to be a first-time great grandmother to Grayson Quinn Villegas. She saw granddaughters Heather and Christine engaged to fine men, Michael and David, respectively. She was wellloved and leaves a great void in all our lives. Family and Friends are invited to visit from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 10th, and from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Thursday, May 11th at Smith Funeral Home 47 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at Church Of The Incarnation 240 Main Street Mantua, NJ 08051.
