John Edward Dixey lll age 87, of Mickleton passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017. Born in Woodbury to John Edward Dixey Jr. and Thelma (nee Hudson), he was a graduate of Woodbury High School Class of 1949. John worked as a Millwright for DuPont in Repauno, and retired from Ciba-Geigy Corp. in Newport, DE. He loved to travel, enjoyed sports, especially baseball, which included many years of coaching in Westville. John was an avid Penn State fan.

John is survived by his wife Nancy A. Dixey (nee Souder), his children, Deborah Ann Gunther & her husband George, Steven M. Dixey & his wife Lisa, and Scott W. Dixey & his wife Karen, step-children, Robert Deacon Jr. & his wife Kathy, and James Deacon, grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Nicole, Lauren, Jake, and Cole, seven step-grandchildren, and his brother William R. Dixey. John was predeceased by his previous wife Doris Ann Dixey (nee Babcock), his sister, Elizabeth, and brother, David.

Family and Friends may visit from 10 am to 12 pm on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, NJ. A memorial service will be held at 12 pm. Burial will follow at Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro, NJ. As an expression of sympathy, contributions can be made to the Gloucester County Sheriff K-9 Unit, PO Box 376, Woodbury, NJ 08096 or the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
