Obituary for Lois S. Hillard (Spissell)
Lois June Spissell Hillard of Clarksboro, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a valiant fight with lung cancer. She was a painter, roller skater, world cruiser, and long-time volunteer at Gloucester County Animal Shelter in Clayton, NJ. Her kindness will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
She graduated from Cooper Nursing School in 1952, and served in the US Air Force from 1961-1964 as a Registered Nurse. She is predeceased by her sister, Connie S. Rowe of Wenonah, NJ and her brother, Donald A. Spissell of Woodbury, NJ. She is survived by her sister, Norma A. Reid of West Deptford, NJ; her brother, Richard M. Spissell of Clarksboro; her daughters Lisa B. Carter of Seattle, WA and Lori J. Hillard of Edmonds, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. The family would like to express their thanks to all her friends, including those from the roller skating rink, who called, visited and spent time telling stories about her. Special thanks to her nephew, Richard T. Spissell and his wife Tami who were there to help when she needed it. Also to her niece Andrea Rowe who was of great help during her final days.
