Where John resided at the Lamplighter community are cul de sacs. We live in the last one and our home is right behind his. We shared the back, door to door. Often times we would talk through our screens of our kitchens if one or the other was outside. The first 2 years I (Denise) was a new grandmom and he came over in his santa suit for my grandson. We have 2 cats and when they were in the screen window he would come up to them teasing with cat noises. He was often concerned about my husband's well being with a terrible boss sharing any new job opportunities and when my husband got his CDL he hooked him up with someone's dump truck and allowed my husband gain more experience. Just like on my lips, God was voiced out of his geniunely. I can remember his shirts depicting his faith as well. The first motorcycle he brought home was of a Hammerhead shark because at the time we were supporting the band Hammerhead that our park manager plays for. He had emblems depicting his faith on that very bike. We are still at a loss trying to comprehend this, since he was so excited about the clothing ministry he recently ventured out with. Very outspoken.I am still thinking he is at work, waiting for the kitchen blind to be half up to show he had been home. I will always say...He had a heart like David.

There is much sadness in a life ended so soon. I wanted to say to those who visit, John now has everything he always wanted. He is with his savior. Anyone who knew John, knew God was changing him. Yes change sometimes are slow, we are a stubborn people. Gods work in his life is done and he is full of joy in the presence of the creator of all things. Take comfort in that fact. Not perfect, just forgiven. Gods only requirement.

Hey Babe, I love you sooo much!!!! I'll never forget the first time I met you over at Parvins and the )))BIG HUG((( you had for me. Going back there after church one day and giving out water to people and telling them let Jesus quench your thirst. Our trip out to Kentucky and Donna Church and all the great people that helped out to make your "calling from God" to help the people of the appalachian mountains come true....there are so many great memories I have of you.....I'll miss you most in church next to me singing "Loud and Proud". God brought us together for a reason and took you from me way to soon, it's hard but I know it is Gods plan. How lovely is Your dwelling place Oh Lord Almighty, For my soul longs And even faints For You Oh, here my heart Is satisfied Within Your presence I sing beneath The shadow of Your wings Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts Than thousands elsewhere Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts Than thousands elsewhere One thing I ask, And I would seek, To see Your beauty To find You in The place Your glory dwell My heart and flesh cry out To You, the Living God Your Spirit's water to my soul I've tasted, and I've seen Come once again to me I will draw near to You I will draw near to You Better is one day Better is one day Better is one day Than thousands elsewhere Better is one day in Your courts Better is one day in Your house Better is one day in Your courts Than thousands elsewhere Yeah, than thousands elsewhere Oh, than thousands elsewhere John, I love you and miss you, Colette your motorcycle angel ps...when you can send me one of those )))big hugs(((

To The Family Of John S. Davis, a.k.a. "Big John / Thunder." John's friends, including myself, at Manzo's Gym in Clayton, were shocked and saddened when we learned of John's passing. John always seemed to "light-up-the-room" when he arrived at the gym. We will miss him, however, we know that his faith in the Lord will comfort him and his family. Rest in peace, John. Well done and God Bless!
