Monica R. Villanova (nee Sharbaugh), age 88 of Gibbstown, NJ died Monday, July 12, 2010 with her family at her side.

Monica was the wife of the late Joseph "Bep" Villanova and the loving mother of the late Kenneth Villanova, Sr. She is survived by her children Judith (Joseph) Stalter of Thorofare, April (William) Gott of Pennsville, Dean (Elaine) Villanova of Medford,  Douglas (Shirley) Villanova of Clarksboro, Carla (Les) Abernathy of Springfield, VA. and daughter-in-law Joan Villanova of Clarksboro, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and sisters Molly Yannone of Garden Grove, CA & Margaret Troyan of Folsom, PA.

Monica was raised in Patton, PA and when married, she and her husband moved to Paulsboro and permanently settled Gibbstown in 1943 where they raised their family. She was a member of St. Michaels RC Church since 1943.

For 24 years, Monica worked at the Pat Richards Sewing Factory in Paulsboro and demonstrated many talents throughout her life. She often traveled to California where she studied art at the Guest Galleries under Richard and Hisosoko Guest and she taught oil painting in her home studio for many years. She also played the piano & harmonica, made many quilts for her family and loved sewing and needlework.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought much joy to her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass 10 AM Saturday at St. Michael's RC Church, Memorial & Rambo Aves., Gibbstown, NJ  followed  by interment at Woodbury Memorial Park. As an expression of sympathy, the family suggests donations be made to Guardian Angels School, 150 S. School St. Gibbstown NJ 08027 for she loved and valued her Catholic school education and her lifelong faith. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
