Kathleen R. (Lonsinger) Brooks (nee Kane), age 84 of Wenonah, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. Born in Media, PA she had been a resident of Johnstown, PA for approximately 60 years and most recently resided in Wenonah, NJ for the past seven. Mrs. Brooks was a member of Southwood Baptist Church and loved having fun and entertaining the ladies of the Sweet Thursday Ladies’ Ministry. She attended “school” at the Evergreen Court Adult Day Program. Mrs. Brooks is a retired crossing guard for the Johnstown School District and was honored to be chosen to christen the S. S. Cedar Creek ship in Chester, PA in 1943. Crocheting and knitting were favorite pastimes, but she will fondly be remembered for her sense of humor, love for life and glamour and by family and friends as “The Glamour Queen”. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Wife of the late Samuel Brooks, Jr. and Leo Lonsinger, she is survived by her children, Colleen T. Brooks of Wenonah with whom she lived, Kathleen Wilson of Carneys Point, L. William (Pam) Lonsinger of Johnstown, Samuel H. Brooks of Monongahela, PA, 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her treasured cousins Ron & Sally Muldoon, her special companion/boxer dog Buddy whom she affectionately referred to as “Gammuzzer’s Boy” and many dear friends. Predeceased by daughters, Donna Layton, Cindy Farace, and brother John C. Kane. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 1 to 4 pm Sunday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME 47 Main St., Mantua, NJ where funeral services will be held at 4 PM. Interment will be in Benshoff Hill Cemetery, Johnstown, PA at 12 Noon on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be sent to her daughter Colleen.
