Obituary for Rodger Dean "Rod" Barrett
Rodger Dean Barrett age 64, of Mantua passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2015. Born in Woodbury, he was a graduate of Pitman High School and served in the Marines during the Vietnam War. Rodger worked for Valero in Paulsboro which was formerly Mobil Oil. He enjoyed working with leather, kayaking, canoeing, crabbing, and loved his VCR, viewing photos, & ABBA music.
Husband of Susan L. (nee Sayres), he is survived by his children, Dana Barrett-Encina (Nathaniel), Jason Barrett, Walter E. Moore Jr.(Michele Yago), Michele L. Moore (Buck Leaf), eight grandchildren, James Green Jr., Ashley Michele Green, Cody Houston Leaf, Macie Lynn Leaf, Reese Moore, Daniel Austin Encina, Nathan Cole Encina, and Dylan Chase Encina, two great grandchildren, Austin Green and Giovanna Fichera, and two sisters, Beverly Thomsen (Don), and Carol Barrett (Mel Sugarman).
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, August 8th from 1 to 2 PM at Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua where a funeral service will be held at 2 PM. Burial with military honors will be held at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Monroe Township, NJ at a later date. Contributions can be made to Grace Healthcare Services, 105 Fieldcrest Ave, Suite 402, Edison NJ 08837. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.smithfhmantua.com
