The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert Suessmuth can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

like a grandfather

I have never really known my grandparents, they passed before I was born. However, I know what it feels like to be cared for and loved by a grandfather because of Mr. Suessmuth. Since I was a young child, he and Mrs. Suessmuth would visit every year before Christmas and bring us gifts. Mr. Suessmuth spent time talking to us, especially about soccer, since it was a shared passion.

When I got married and my wife moved to NJ in search of a teaching position, it was Mr. Suessmuth who gave her advice on where to apply, tips on different districts, and whom to speak with as it was during a time where lots of teachers were being laid off. He recognized our need and without hesitation provided support and advice. My wife later learned that her resume caught the eye of the principal because the name Bob Suessmuth was listed as a reference.

I will never forget the last time I saw Mr. Suessmuth. It was this past summer at Donkey's Place in Camden. My wife and two daughters were having lunch when Mr. Suessmuth came over. We were able to introduce him to our daughters whom he and Mrs. Suessmuth send gifts to each summer but have never met. We were able to spend time catching up on our families lives. After he left  we asked for the check the waiter told us it had already been paid. That was Mr. Suessmuth to me; thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate, and a Godly example. I've never really had a biological grandparent, but I thank God that I was blessed to have Mr. Suessmuth be like a grandfather to me.
