A Great Uncle

It is hard to write about Uncle John in just a few words. These are just a few that describe the wonderful Uncle I was so blessed to have in my life: Kind, Generous, Understanding, Gracious, Patient, Considerate and Compassionate.

Uncle John always called me Tef or Tefry. A nickname that was very special to me because he was the only one (other than Marie at times) that would use it and I could always feel the love behind it. It would put a smile on my face each and every timehe would say it. He always treated me like one of his own children, always made me feel special whether we were togehter or just talking on the phone. Dancing, The Mummers Strut, Painting, Seinfeld, the Phillies, Shop Rite and so much more will always remind me of Uncle John.  If we were at a party, wedding or any event that had a dance floor Uncle John and Aunt Carmella would be showing off their moves. It was something that I always looked forward to watching.

I would talk to him a lot on Sunday's after he was home from Shop Rite and makeing a pot of gravy. He and I would laugh because we both could sit with a loaf of bread and just dip it in the gravy and eat it till we were full.  He knew I did not like to eat a lot of things, but we both shared our love for that.  He had a fondness for my husband Bruce and they had a lot in common.   When my uncle found out how much Bruce loved his olive salad and sausage and peppers he would always make them for him. He made sure Bruce never ran out.  I think when we moved to Florida I still had about 5 containers to bring with us. That is just the kind of guy he was. If you told him you liked something he would remember it and go out of his way to buy or make it for you.

He was one of the most caring men I have ever been aroundl I remember how he would take care of my grandparents and I would think how lucky they were to have such an amazing son. He was also an amazing grandfather and there was always so much pride and joy in his voice when he would talk to us about Ronnie, Nick and Bella. He could go on and on with stories and you could see how much he just adored all of them. They brought so much happiness to him.  They had to be the best gift he ever received.

Memories of my Uncle John will last in my mind forever. There will never be anyone that can replace him, and no one will ever compare to him. He is dear in my heart and Heaven is a better place with Uncle John there.
